Additional Details

You’ll begin by learning melodies and solos to some of the greatest and best-known jazz standards, by playing along with a wonderful recorded band playing in the “Hot Club” or “Gypsy jazz”-style. Then you’ll learn a solo written by Jeremy Cohen in one of a number of jazz violin styles referencing jazz violin super stars like Eddie South, Joe Venuti, and the great Stephane Grappell.

Just about every violinist at any level can play along with one speed or the other. Beginners can practice basic skills while more advanced players can hone their improvisation chops, each at their own individual learning pace. Swing Jazz Violin with Hot-Club Rhythm is the violin version of Dix’s Gypsy Swing & Hot Club Rhythm but with four additional selections, solos on all sixteen songs, and two bonus jazz string quartets written by Quartet San Francisco’s Jeremy Cohen! If you’re interested in playing jazz on the violin, this book is a must! 80-page book plus downloadable audio.

Each melody and solo is recorded at both slow and regular speeds, and you’ll be able to practice them — along with your own improvised solos — all with extended band rhythm tracks. Let the band back you up as you practice soloing. We’ll jam all night long! (See and hear samples below.)

Customer Comment:

“I purchased this two book CD set and they are great! I’m learning by ear so I can’t say if the written notes are right but the [recordings] are done well and they are a bunch of fun.”
